Banking & Financial Services Program

  • Do you like to operate calculators?
  • Are you comfortable following detailed plans for work?

If you answered yes to two or more of the questions above, you might be interested in considering a career in finance. For example: Banking & Financial Support Services. 

In the occupations within this pathway you would keep track of money. You might provide financial services to a business or individual. Your work could include maintaining records or giving advice to business executives on how to operate their business. You could work in financial planning, banking, or insurance.

Our Program

The purpose of this program is to prepare students for employment in the banking and credit industry in positions such as financial services specialists, financial analysts, financial economists, financial managers, credit managers, credit officers, managers, or in credit and collections.  Other employment opportunities include: financial planning, insurance management, banking, and commercial loans and services.

This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Finance career cluster; provides technical skill proficiency, and includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the Finance career cluster.

Successful completion of all levels will prepare students for the NOCTI- Banking & Related Services assessment.

Structured Learning Experiences

This is the last level of all programs of studies. Once the programs receive the approval from the DOE, students will participate in Structured Learning Experiences in the industry as follows:

  • Volunteer
  • Internship (paid or unpaid)
  • Cooperative Education Experience
  • Apprenticeship
  • School-Based Enterprise
